Activities

Let our team provide an unforgettable STEAM experience for your young people.

We were at an event in The Chárter Township of Royal Oak MI and we were getting ready to cause a physical reaction in the form of Elephant Toothpaste. We gave all the young people lab coats and safety glasses, because that's what scientists wear. When our young people look like scientists, they start thinking like scientists and then they start acting like scientists. So we did what all good scientists do, and caused this really cool reaction. One of the young men made the Statement and I quote “I am a Scientist” we all know you can’t be what you can’t see, and at that moment he saw himself as a scientist. That’s the power of our program.

Family STEAM Night

Are you ready for some STEAM excitement! STEAM Family Night, brings together three of the most important stakeholders in the educational process: students, staff and the families for non stop hands-on fun.

In/Out of School Workshops

We create a safe space where young people welcome STEAM Learning. They use 21st Century Skills and the Engineering Design Process to learn how to solve real world problems.

STEAM Summer Camps

Our team designed the summer activities to keep the young people engaged, excited and on the move. They will go hands-on while learning about the wonderful world of STEAM.

How We Work

WE ENGAGE

We like to start our activities off with an exciting demonstration, (The Hook). We create a safe space where young people feel comfortable using STEAM concepts. We have adopted the Activity before Concept approach, it is the hands-on activities that ignite that STEAM Spark (Curiosity) in our young people.

WE EDUCATE

Our young people are encouraged to be self-motivated learners and inquirers through a variety of STEAM activities. These same activities allow the students to get hands-on

experience as they learn problem solving and 21st century skills (Creativity).

WE EMPOWER

We allow our young people to learn through their failures. Failure can be a good thing, because it creates opportunities, opportunities for our young people to:

  • To Learn

  • To Grow

  • To Think Outside of the box

  • To Problem Solve

  • To Be Creative

Dr. Sampson Davis said “Sometimes you gotta fail in order to succeed”

That's why we teach our young people at Kids First Initiative STEAM Ignite, that it's ok to fail.
